OBSERVATION, INSPIRATION

Observation and conclusion |   most of the candle holders are designed with glass material in bottom part only. I decided to create more interaction with glass and make brand selling material more outstanding and visible.

GOALS:

  • MORE interaction between light & glass
  • Mirror effect - multiplication of light from 1 candle with number of glass prisms around
  • Flat surface and edges - spread light into the environment (round shape tends to close light inside)

PROCESS - CREATING GLASS PRISMS

1.Vertical graphite mould
First intention was to get the final shape and size after working in glass hotshop.
Glass surface didn't turn out having the expression I thought was suitable for Orrefors brand values.

2.Horizontal metal mould
The outcome uses more material than the previous one, to prepare it for glass cold-workshop cutting.
Poured glass into metal mould got stuck and was hard to remove, which caused some cracks, so I've decided to prepare another graphite mould.

3.Horizontal graphite mould
Re-build graphite mould cracked in the end, but worked perfectly and delivered beautiful results!
